The Real-Time Tracking AF seemed to be a bit slow, as it seemed to lose fast-moving subjects and took at least a couple of frames to locate them again, but that was only when it was deliberately triggered; it tracked relatively slow-moving subjects just fine. It is bulkier than the 16-50mm, but optically much better. It is sharper across the entire zoom range than we are used to seeing with zoom lenses of this length.
Additionally, it's easy to use, neat, and hassle-free. You can see the quality of the still images is excellent. Images appear detailed and sharp, and the color rendition seems both natural and rich. As expected, the exposure system performed well in a wide variety of lighting conditions, and the automatic white balance worked well. An effective noise reduction is demonstrated in the JPEG images and raw files of the 6D II, even at ISO 40,000. However, raw files reveal how much noise is being reduced in the in-camera JPEGs. Overall, the 6D Mark II performs very well in terms of operational performance. In high-contrast lighting, it isn't so easy to guess what the exposure system will do.
