The Best Canon Lenses Review 2021

DESIGN:

This lens is a successor model of the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II version. When comparing these two lenses, the build quality seems to change. The former had a plastic lens mount, so though this Mark II version showed an amazing performance, people still wanted a more durable lens.

That is why the Company decided to launch this CANON EF 50MM F/1.8 STM model. Photographers find this lens more durable because it is completely made of metal, including its lens mount.

Also, this lens has better handling. For instance, if you switch the lens to AF mode, even if you focus manually with the camera's shutter button half-pressed, the focus ring won't move.

The plastic used in the lens's construction doesn't feel cheap but instead is very solid.

The only drawback I see in this lens is the absence of image stabilization. Well, to speak about the autofocus design of this lens, it has got a Ring-type USM which is considered another best AF motor for lenses. It is responsible for delivering that fast and accurate AF performance. 

PERFORMANCE:

I was looking for a good lens for a Canon T3i camera and I'm glad I found one. Many might have a doubt whether this full-frame lens will work on a APS-C Canon camera. Well, you can use a Full-frame lens on an APS-C Camera provided you consider the crop factor (1.5x for Canon). The gives me a full-frame dynamic focal range of 36 - 105mm, which is helpful for general-purpose photo shoots.

The f/2.8 is responsible for the lens's two best qualities: Bokeh quality and nighttime performance. I'll tell you how. At f/2.8, you get that nice out-of-focus blur, so your subjects remain tack sharp, giving a realistic feel. My favorite lens in this list is the “Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L USM III”. It is a great wildlife and sports lens for Canon cameras. It has 4-stop image stabilization, so you don’t have to worry about getting shaky videos with the lens. DESIGN:

As it is a telephoto lens, it is heavy. It weighs around 1500g, but thankfully, this lens comes with a tripod mount, helping you have a good grip while holding the lens. Like the 24-70mm f/2.8 L II, this also has a ring-type USM for delivering fast and reliable AF data. Even manual focusing is fun with this lens because the focus ring turns very smoothly without showing any stickiness.

PERFORMANCE:

This is one of my favorite long range Canon sports lenses because it can track fast-moving objects accurately. This is one of the crucial features needed in a good sports lens.

Moving on, the image quality of this lens is splendid throughout its zoom range. You will not see a drop in contrast even at lower focal lengths. In terms of bokeh, there are 8 aperture blades to give you that perfect bokeh effect (defocusing effects). Also, I noticed that the lens has almost negligible chromatic aberration, thanks to the special glasses and coatings inside the lens.

As said, this is a crop-sensor lens, so you can't use it with an EF Camera. Another reason why I claim this to be suitable for videographers is that the zoom ring is so smooth, and it glides very easily with your fingers. In terms of image sharpness at wide apertures, the center sharpness is excellent, while the corners look slightly off. In contrast, at narrower apertures, both the corners and the center look impressively sharp.

If the lens you purchase or already own shows an EF-S tag on it. It is designed specifically for Canon’s crop-sensor APS-C cameras. You cannot use an EF-S lens on a full-frame camera system.

You can mount an EF lens onto an APS-C system, provided you consider the crop factor of 1.5x. Also, you can connect an EF lens to a Canon EOS-M mirrorless interchangeable camera, provided you have an EF to EOS M mount adapter.

An EF-M tag on a Canon lens designates that it is designed for EF-M mount cameras. If you take an EF-M mount lens and compare its size with an EF or EF-S lens, you will notice that an EF-M is much more lightweight.

Canon uses two new systems in its mirrorless camera lineup. One is the EF-M series discussed above, and another is this RF system designed for Canon full-frame mirrorless cameras.
